Access Garage is Aaron Leventhal’s accessibility blog. At first I thought I'd link to a certain post, but hey, all of the stuff is good.

To web surfers, Google Chrome is a quick, exciting new browser. As webmasters, it's a good reminder that regardless of the browser your visitors use to access your site – Firefox, Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Safari, etc. – browser compatibility is often a high priority. When your site renders poorly or is difficult to use on many browsers you risk losing your visitors' interest, and, if you're running a monetized site, perhaps their business.

”One of these days, I’m going to write a book called, 'The Basics'. It’s going to be a compendium of the essential tech bits that you just assume everyone knows – but you’re wrong. Like: You can enlarge the text on any Web page. In Windows, press Ctrl and the plus or minus keys (for bigger or smaller fonts); on the Mac, it’s the Command key and plus or minus."

Unleashing the power of design thinking is about awaking design instincts and methods in business executives and organizations all around us – especially the ones we traditionally don’t work with. We believe design thinking is a remarkably under-used tool for achieving strategic business initiatives that are increasingly driven by the need for innovation. The more design thinking is used to innovate and solve problems across many professions, the more design itself will be brought into significant conversations and decisions that shape our collective future in the business world.

Although the current situation regarding website accessibility might not be fully satisfactory but certainly this awareness is growing by the day both in form of implementation of guidelines and legislations, and also in the way of increasing number of websites that adhere to these guidelines and specifications.

The fieldset and legend elements are well supported by many user agents. While it is helpful to have knowledge of some of the quirks and failings of particular user agents, the poor support in software such as Window Eyes must not stop developers using these elements or accessibility practitioners recommending their use. Their use can make it easier for a wide range of disabled users to fill out forms. In order to improve accessibility for all disabled users, web standards must be adhered to so that developers can code for accessibility with confidence.

Technorati says its findings indicate that blogging is now mainstream. ReadWriteWeb is not so sure. Although reading blogs is becoming increasingly mainstream, is writing them?

A recent lengthy discussion in the Interaction Design Association focused on the placement of actions in Web forms that span several Web pages. The quintessential question underlying this debate is: can an action which leads people to the previous step of a process be placed to the right of an action that leads users to the next step of a process?

Net, Blogs and Rock'n'Roll is a blog of a book which charts how digital discovery works, from the automated recommendation services that suggest what titles you might want to explore based on your previous preferences, through to the ways that we share word-of-mouth recommendations online. It outlines the three strands of digital discovery – TLC: Trying Out, Links and Community – and explains how the history, culture and technology of today's media are interwoven with the rise of personalisation and mobile players. It profiles the groups of consumers and their various approaches to discovery, and outlines the pyramid of influence: Savants and Enthusiasts record their finds, express their opinions and lead communities of fellow consumers, while other groups are more passive participants.
